Amidst the vast farmlands of Central Oregon, a beautiful scene plays out on a sunny midsummer day. An alert hawk perched on an old fence post, its wings outstretched as it leans in to take flight in pursuit of prey. The weathered barbed wire tiredly hangs, worn in a way only years of use and weather can do, a witness to the passage of so many seasons.

Driving by this familiar area, I saw one of the many hawks that hunt these fields. So I pulled over to just take a shot. I love catching life happen in those fractions of moments that are gone almost as fast as you realize you've seen it. This is one of my favorite pictures, but I also say the same about so many of them.
